What do you do?

What do you do with a child that isn't punishable? Nothing works with little Macie. I've spanked her she says that it doesn't hurt. I've given her a small teaspoon of vinegar and she doesn't blink. Time outs, taking toys away it doesn't matter what I do with her,

shes going to do what she's going to do.

I am totally out of options with her!

I would love any suggestions! I don't want her to be like this the rest of her life!

Kids are so tough sometimes! One thing that has worked with my stubborn little guy is to take away his most prized possession. There has to be something that she loves - a toy, a doll, a pair of shoes, a dress, a video, watching tv - whatever.

You can take it away for a day or two, or a week...whatever it takes, just don't give in and give it back before the time is up!

What about chores? I know she is small but surely there are some things that she can do to help out. Cleaning baseboards, dusting, helping with laundry... My kids hate to clean, so this works well with them! They get chore duty for a specific period of time and during that time they have to do whatever chore I assign. Then if they get in trouble again the time goes up and they do chores for a longer period of time!

Just be firm and don't give in. Don't argue with her or show any emotion. Be matter of fact and stop the conversation if she tries to talk you out of it or if she cries or whines. When she sees that you are serious and that you won't give in to those big blue eyes (hard I'm sure!) then she will start to come around and realize that you are serious! Good luck!

Oh, one other thing - for some kids acting out is more for attention and control. Try to spend some downtime together and give some positive reinforcement for good behavior. Kids thrive on the positive interactions and will want to behave. You could even make a chart and give her a sticker for each day of the week that she behaves and doesn't get in trouble. Then once she gets a specific number of stickers, like 10 or so, then she gets to go out for icecream or she gets to choose her favorite meal you cook for dinner or maybe a pedicure and manicure from mom.

Well, sorry this got so long! I have four kiddos myself and I think I have tried all of these methods at one time or another! I hope this helps a little!
